Get ready to spread some avocado goodness because a wave of avocado experts is about to hit Manjimup. The WA Avocado Export Regional Forum is making its way to the South West, featuring a lineup of industry specialists set to grace three avocado-themed events. These free gatherings, organized by Avocados Australia as part of the Hort Innovation-funded project Avocado Market Access and Trade Development, aim to elevate Western Australia’s strong dedication to the beloved super fruit.
In the 2023-24 season, Australian avocado growers collectively produced an impressive 150,913 tonnes of avocados, ensuring a year-round supply. Notably, WA’s growers contributed a significant 44% to this total, showcasing the state’s pivotal role in avocado production. The forthcoming events will kick off with the WA Grower Regional Forum on June 18, starting bright and early at 8 am and running until 4 pm at the Macedonian Community of Manjimup Hall.
The excitement continues the next day with the WA Pre-forum Avo Chat breakfast, scheduled to begin at 7:30 am and conclude at 8:45 am at the Kingsley Motel Hotel. Wrapping up the series of events is the WA Export Regional Forum, taking place from 9 am to 1:20 pm at the same venue. Avocados Australia chair, Matt Kleyn, is set to grace each event, eagerly looking forward to connecting with growers and industry stakeholders.
As preparations intensify for the WA Avocado Export Regional Forum, Avocados Australia’s WA director, Duncan Wells, will join Mr. Kleyn at the WA Pre-forum Avo Chat, adding more expertise and insight to the mix. The esteemed CEO of Avocados Australia, John Tyas, will also be in attendance throughout all three events, emphasizing the importance of these forums for growers. Tyas encouraged WA growers to seize the opportunity to engage, ask questions, and address any concerns they may have during the WA Pre-forum Avo Chat breakfast.
In the words of John Tyas, “Events like these provide growers with the chance to fact-find and source the best information to help them improve their businesses.” The forums promise a wealth of knowledge and networking opportunities, empowering growers to enhance their operations and stay abreast of industry trends. For those eager to participate, registrations for the Grower Regional Forum, Export Regional Forum, and Avo Chat are now open for sign-up.
In conclusion, the WA Avocado Export Regional Forum is not just a series of events; it symbolizes a gathering of passionate individuals committed to advancing the avocado industry. It serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and growth, underlining the collective efforts to elevate avocado production and trade in Western Australia. As the forum approaches, anticipation builds for the valuable discussions, insights, and connections that will shape the future of avocado cultivation and distribution in the region.
