Nintendo Switch 2 A Mario Fans Excitement and Disappointment

I bet you remember the feeling of waiting for a highly anticipated game console, right? The anticipation, the excitement, the rush of pre-ordering it before it even hits the shelves. Well, that was me with the Nintendo Switch 2. I mean, come on – who wouldn’t be excited about a new gaming console from Nintendo?

Let me paint you a picture: there I was, eagerly following every bit of news and rumor about the Nintendo Switch 2. And then it happened – the announcement I had been waiting for! The Nintendo Direct unveiling got me all hyped up like a kid in a candy store. Without wasting any time, I secured my very own Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World Bundle preorder from a UK retailer. Can you imagine my sheer joy and excitement at that moment?

But here’s the twist – as thrilled as I was about getting my hands on this new console, there was something missing; something that left me feeling strangely unsatisfied. You see, for someone like me who thrives on single-player adventures and has a soft spot for a certain Italian plumber named Mario, not having a new 3D Mario game at launch felt like having dessert without the cherry on top.

Missing The Magic: Where’s My Mario?

As much as I love games like Forza Horizon-inspired Mario Kart or revisiting classics in enhanced graphics like Zelda in stunning 4K resolution or maybe even 1440p at 60 frames per second – nothing quite compares to that rush of experiencing a brand-new Mario adventure. And let’s be real here – Super Mario Odyssey is an absolute gem that still shines brightly among Nintendo’s collection of titles.

Imagine this: you’re eagerly watching the Nintendo event unfold, hoping against hope for that one announcement – a new 3D Mario game to sweep you off your feet just like Odyssey did back in 2017. But alas, opportunities came and went without our beloved plumber making his grand return to our screens.

The Longing For Adventure

Now don’t get me wrong; I get it. Mario Kart World is indeed a big deal with its multiplayer fun galore. But for someone who cherishes those solo gaming moments where you can lose yourself in another world entirely – this lineup just didn’t hit home.

And then came those three back-to-back game reveals towards the end of the Direct. First up was FromSoftware’s intriguing project reminiscent of Bloodborne followed by Kirby Air Riders (another racing title?) and finally Donkey Kong Bananza which looked fantastic but wasn’t quite what I was yearning for.

The disappointment hit hard when instead of Super Mario Galaxy 3 or better yet Super Mario Odyssey 2 , we got announcements focused elsewhere.

A New Dawn Beckons

Sure, with games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A slated to grace our screens within six months of the Nintendo Switch 2 release date; most gamers would be content beyond measure. But hey…where’s our favorite mustachioed hero amidst all these exciting releases? It just doesn’t feel quite complete without him embarking on another epic quest through colorful worlds filled with mystery and wonder!

As much as I’ve come to terms with waiting patiently for Mario Odyssey’s sequel (fingers crossed for next year), deep down inside lies a burning desire to dive headfirst into an all-new adventure alongside our red-capped hero once more.

So here’s hoping that as we bid adieu to one stellar year of gaming wonders courtesy of Nintendo Switch 2 , we usher in another promising chapter filled with untold possibilities including – dare I say – an exhilarating new journey starring none other than everyone’s favorite plumber extraordinaire!

And until then…let’s keep dreaming about those Mushroom Kingdom adventures yet to come!
