The political landscape always brings surprises, doesn’t it? Take the story of Benjamin Britton, the Liberal candidate for Whitlam. This guy has been making waves with his controversial views. And when I say controversial, I mean he’s really stirring the pot.
Let me set the stage for you. We’re talking about Mr. Britton, a man who has caught the eye of none other than Peter Dutton himself, being hailed as an “outstanding candidate.” Quite the endorsement, right? But here’s where things get interesting.
Before his preselection in New South Wales’ Whitlam seat, Britton didn’t hold back on sharing his opinions. He voiced some pretty strong beliefs on various podcasts that many might find eyebrow-raising – to put it mildly.
One of his standout statements was about women serving in combat roles within the Australian Defence Force (ADF). According to him, women shouldn’t be part of combat positions because they simply can’t handle it physically. Now, that’s a bold claim that raised quite a few eyebrows.
“Basically… if we’re to fix our defence force… they’re going to need to remove females from combat corps.”
Now, imagine this scenario: tough men coming back from war with their lives shattered. Britton paints a vivid picture of how these warriors are left broken by their experiences – drug-addicted and unable to function normally due to severe PTSD. With such harrowing images in mind, he questions why anyone would want to subject women – whom he calls the backbone of society – to such horrors.
Interestingly enough, Mr. Britton also shared his thoughts on Australia’s education system. In his eyes, schools are turning into indoctrination centers where young minds are filled with what he deems as Marxist propaganda instead of being taught critical thinking skills.
“It shows how much of a failure our education system has been because no longer do they take children and teach them how to think…”
He even went as far as linking exposure to pornography during adolescence with an increase in unconventional sexual desires and gender dysphoria among youths today. It’s definitely a unique perspective that not everyone might agree with.
But wait, there’s more! Britton didn’t stop there. He delved into conspiracy theories about Labor intentionally keeping electorates poor and floated ideas about turning Australia into a tax haven akin to the Isle of Man.
While some might see him as a breath of fresh air unafraid to speak his mind, others view him as someone who might be too outlandish for mainstream politics. The fact remains that his views have sparked discussions across party lines and among voters alike.
As election season heats up and campaigns kick into high gear, all eyes will be on candidates like Benjamin Britton who aren’t afraid to break away from traditional political discourse – for better or for worse.
