Accor’s Pacific chief operating officer, Adrian Williams, highlighted the immediate positive impact of the rate cuts on leisure destinations, stating,
“With the reduction of the cash rate… we’ve seen an increase in forward bookings for leisure destinations.”

Despite an increase in new hotel constructions across cities like Melbourne and Sydney, occupancy rates have remained strong. Additionally, international events like Amway China’s seminar brought significant tourism traffic to Melbourne.
Antony Schober from M3 Property noted that while international tourist numbers are rebounding post-pandemic, Melbourne continues to attract a large share of domestic tourists in Australia. Occupancy rates and revenues per room have shown steady growth year-on-year.
